Personal Bio:

Fitness has been a part of my daily life since the age of 10, I began taking fitness classes that children could attend. I participated in dance, gymnastics and cheerleading in my youth. The most exciting part of my fitness journey is I found that my passion for dance and fitness could be combined.  I discovered Middle Eastern Dance in 2002 and began performing and competing as a Bellydancer; I am a proud owner of 18 Bellydance awards. In 2010 I discovered Pole Fitness and began my study of how to use a vertical pole for body weight resistance with dance fitness.  In 2012 I was introduced to Zumba while teaching a Bellydance class for the gym and immediately knew this must be added to my fitness journey.  I am always retraining and looking for new and exciting was to stay healthy and fit.  I love meeting each and every person that comes into one of my classes.

The key to being a good bellydancer is having a good teacher.

I am a good bellydancer, and Dezadera (a.k.a. Dez) is a phenomenal instructor.

I had taken her classes for about a year before deciding to create a bellydance solo.

Dez and I met for solo choreography in the studio once a week over a period of five weeks.

It is said that it is the journey, and not the destination that is of the most importance within any endeavor.

This particular experience enriched me in many ways.  Not only did I grow as a bellydancer and and help choreograph my own solo,

but also I better understood the depth of experience, wisdom, confidence, and exceptional skill that Dez possesses within her bellydance repertoire.  Getting to work with her on a one-on-one basis was phenomenal!

She understands others' learning processes and easily adapts to others' learning styles.  Believe me, this requires talent.

By week two of the solo process, Dez had e-mailed me the choreography, which was easy for me to comprehend because she converted the choreography to include both visual/sonorous cues.  I practiced diligently at home, and by the day of the performance, felt that I had the solo solidly embedded in my body.  Dez honored me with her presence at the event for which I performed my solo; the performance would not have been the same without her seeing me bring the dance to life.

This entire process was an experience which I will cherish for a lifetime.

Testimonial

After watching a Columbia Gorge Bellydance performance at a local festival, I decided that I wanted to learn how to bellydance.

Dezadera was very patient with our beginning group, and enjoyed teaching as much as we enjoyed learning.  That was 2 1/2  years ago.

With Dezadera’s encouragement and support we formed a troupe, progressed to an intermediate level and now perform many times during the year. I’ve learned that bellydance is not just a style of dance, its an art. It allows me to discover my capabilities, challenge myself and increase my confidence. I’ve made some great friends and we have a lot of fun dancing together.

I have never had so much fun exercising, toning abs, laughing with new girlfriends and learning something new.
